Karibu - welcome to Zavani

Zavani is a privately owned holiday villa in Diani Beach, on Kenya's south coast. It began as a family home rather than a rental, and that is still how it feels: a house built for barefoot days, long lunches under the makuti roof and the sound of the Indian Ocean drifting in over the garden wall. We opened it up to guests for travellers who want something more personal than a hotel room - a whole holiday home in Diani to themselves.

Our connection to Diani

Zavani sits in Coconut Grove I, a small, quiet villa estate about 2.8 km beyond the Baobab hotel and roughly 250 metres from the Neptune. The beach is around 300 metres away, a five-minute walk through the palms. Over the years we've looked after a number of villas here, and many of our first guests have become good friends and neighbours.

The villa itself

Around 300 sqm of living space, six bedrooms across the main house and guest cottage, five bathrooms, and a big swimming pool wrapped in a tropical garden of bougainvillea, coconut palms and fruit trees. Artistic African style, European comfort, and plenty of shady corners to disappear into with a book.

How we host

It's not a hotel - it's a family home, opened up for you. A small local team looks after the villa: a chef who cooks whatever you fancy, a house lady, and a gardener and pool attendant. Superhost on Airbnb since 2014 with a 4.86 rating across 78 reviews, and always happy to help arrange safaris, diving, kitesurfing or a quiet dinner on the terrace.
